I never used to be overweight before, it was only since having two children and not making any effort to watch my weight. It was after then that I knew I was overweight but did not know what I weighed until I stepped on the scales at NSCC! My weakness was definitely chocolate. I love sausage rolls and sausage & mash but now I only have that as a treat occasionally.

I suddenly started suffering with high blood pressure, it is now okay. My hips used to hurt in the morning but I don’t seem to have that problem anymore either. I tried slimming world and weight watchers a few times, I could only ever seem to manage to lose 1 stone then it would stop, then I would get fed up paying each week and not lose anything. I hated having to shop in Evans for clothes, don’t get me wrong they do gorgeous clothes and boots but I felt people were looking at me as I came out of that shop. I also avoided going to funfairs as I probably wouldn’t fit in the rides.

I knew a couple of people who had been to NSCC before and had success so I thought well why not give it a try? So glad I did. It gave me a new insight into what I should and should not be eating. I have found that watching the amount of sugar in foods seems to have clicked with my body. I rarely have chocolate now and don’t really miss it either.

I haven’t even found it that hard, there have been weeks even a month when I stayed the same but I persevered with it. The staff have been fantastic; the reception ladies are wonderful and we have a good giggle whilst waiting to go in.

The main advantages of my weight loss are buying smaller clothes definitely; I can pick what I want off the rail. I also found that my feet shrank, I am now a size 3 and I can buy boots that zip right up to the knee, it’s an amazing feeling. I became a gym bunny too and I love to exercise. I have also found a new fella in my life!

Now I still go and get weighed weekly or fortnightly depending on my work schedule. I think my weight will fluctuate 4lbs as that is obviously where my body is happy and I’m happy to be this weight. I know I will always have to watch what I eat now but we all have to make lifestyle changes.

My blood pressure is now normal, I feel fitter, healthier and a lot happier and I would advise anyone to give NSCC a try.

What was your starting weight and what are you now?

I was 15 stone 13 pounds and I am now 10 stone 1 pound!

How do you deal with boredom in your dieting programme?

Try to vary your meals a lot and be VERY focused.

What are your three best dieting tips you’d like to share?

1. Variety, so you don’t get bored.

2. Drink loads of water.

3. Join a gym ASAP, I waited over a year before I joined and regretted not toning up earlier.

Are there any foods that you completely avoid and never eat?

Bread, I miss it terribly but when I have eaten some, the bloatiness is awful and I feel so lethargic.

What would you say to someone who wanted to lose a large amount of weight?

Don’t look at how much you have to lose, i.e. 6/7 stone, take a stone at a time. I did or I would probably of given up and not reached what I wanted to be.
